It's not so relevant with respect to spam, but is definitely relevant
from a list administration perspective. We couldn't possibly accept
mail with 100 recipients or more. On a busy list server, brainless
crossposters would take us down in no time at all. We keep
MaxRecipientsPerMessage set to 10 and are very happy.
This may mean that we are not conformant with some of the standards,
to which I say, oh well. It's been obvious for a long time that some
of the standards we're trying so hard to follow are badly out of date
with respect to current practices. We can't afford to run open relays
any more, and can't afford to accept mail sent to thousands of
recipients at once.
