I have a perl script I hacked together that makes use of a couple 
MIME:: modules to "demime" a message.  Essentually, if a message is
sent as multipart/alternative, it will do what you want. 

my MLM (eSquire) makes use of it for my site... and that functionality
will be in the next point release (someday)

If the result is still text/html... they're hosed.  I imaging we could
add a hack to take text/html and run it through lynx (or something)
to de-HTML-ify it...
