Today I rec'd a probe.  Which got me to thinking (novice here).

I recently told someone I thought bounces did not happen reliably, that
accounts could become dormant and messages for a long time be fired
toward those accounts -- with no sign that the the messages are being
lost.

If you see what I mean.

Hmm.  I reckon the question possibly is: how many free acounts,
especially academic, get opened then ignored?   -P

Overstated.  "Infrequently say _never_."  There are all varieties and
