I actually said two things. Let me repeat but expand on what they were. The spirit of the standard is that a multipart/digest should contain only message/rfc822. This seems clear to me on my reading; your mileage may vary. In any case, the standard permits and explicitly discourages any content-type in a multipart/digest. I also offered an example usage of multipart/digest, consistent with, in fact mostly the same as, the example in the standard. It is how the digests I create look. I have not seen exactly what SmartList does, but based on reading the bits and pieces of your descriptions across several messages, it seems to me that SmartList is compliant with the letter of the standard. However, the implementation is not the preferred interpretation, based on the examples in the standard. Jim
