the net has always been a gated community. People are now upset either because they have to pay for the gate, or because the community they want to be in won't let them....


(in the old days, the gate was around the internet, making it safe for us college educated techie types. And slowly but surely, we've let in all those (shudder) other people, and it's never been the same. thank god.)
