I'd have to disagree with you on that one. Attendance would be one issue.
Additionally, the "DCFUG vs. FWCFUG" would inevitably happen. Also, who would
run each? A shared board? Or each with their own?
Additionally, how would you work topics? I'd hate to find out that the Ft.
Worth group was doing a topic I wanted, if I was a member of the Dallas group.
So I'd go to see the Ft. Worth group now.. so the travel advantage gets
nullified. So instead, both groups have the same topic.. what happens when Bill
Rogers can only come to one meeting? Who does he choose? And let's not even
begin to discuss "whose" meeting Forta would have been at......
Finally, and most importantly, is Allaire/Macromedia support. I seriously doubt
that they would support the idea of two groups so close to one another.
So the bottom line is, a minor benefit (reduced travel times) with a load of
negatives. I think we have the best solution.. hold it in a central location,
in the Irving area. Yes, it's a pain if you're in downtown Dallas or Ft.
Worth. However, it is the best option.
If we really are looking at added accessibility, I think our efforts would be
better spent at looking at some sort of webcast as opposed to forking the
excellent group we have now.
