Hi Henry,
You can do this using Acrobat/Reader 4.0 and above by using FDF files.

You can also get the FDF toolkit from Adobe:
http://partners1.adobe.com/asn/developer/acrosdk/docs/fdftkovr.pdf
Keep in mind, this method only works when the client is running Adobe Acrobat version
4 or greater.
