I have an excel file
on the lan. I have it linked to an Access2K database on the web
server. I can open the linked table fine when I open the access
database. I can also open the query that is called in my page. The
problem is that when I open the page that calls the query I get the message
that:
Microsoft JET Database Engine
(0x80004005)
The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '\\Gw2k\Bris_All\Joanstuff\BORPROGRAMCIPINVEN.xls'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.
I know the Excel file is not open and I am sure it is a permission thing. Probably a permission thing on the lan side. Any ideas how this needs to be changed without breaching the security of the lan. I only need to have to excel file read only.
