Set the page header to send xml instead of HTML, in CF just like you do to
show your HTML table in excel or any other application mime type that you
know the client will have installed:

<cfheader name="Content-Disposition" value="filename=text.xml"> 
<cfcontent type="text/xml">

Just put that at the very top of your CFM file.  I did a quick search and

So the question that remains then is how to CFFILE create an xml file with a
.cfm extension that still acts like a .xml?
