SMS is very popular in asia as well.. I am from India and we use SMS apps daily... Even money transfer is possible these days... We have lot of applications offered by service providers including clearing phone bills, buying movie tickets, airline tickets, auction, weather, IMs like yahoo - msn, email etc. Its much better and reliable than WAP.

SMS is a MASSIVE thing in Europe. I'm often over there for work, and am
constantly surprised how much people use their cell phones to drop
meeting reminders, talk to wives, colleagues, whoever in meetings or
throughout the day. While they have the latest greatest phones, things
like AOL or MSN on the phone doesn't seem to be that big of a deal, but
SMS is smokin hot... and has been for years.

If you're not looking into this, you should be! It's here now, and
growing fast.

Thanks for the links, Matt.
