cfform on CFMX 6.1

Hi All, I’m using <cfform> and assigned some form fields to be required and they each have their messages.  Why isn’t working?  When I submit the form and these fields are left blank I don’t get the popup dialogue box with their corresponding messages.  I must not be aware of the change if there was one.  Can someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong?   Ron
