The call for Team Macromedia and UG Managers today was actually
extremely limited because they are so constrained with what they can
say at this point. Everything on the call was public knowledge coming
from these three main sources:

http://www.markme.com/mesh/archives/007504.cfm
http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/invrelations/adobeandmacromedia.html
http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/invrelations/pdfs/AdobeMacromediaFAQ.pdf

At this point there is no specific information as to what this means
to any Macromedia products, but I think Mike Chambers' blog is a great
source for some very basic comments in that regard.

Because the acquisition will not complete until Q4 of this year, in
the mean time it's business as usual. Not to start any additional
speculation, but personally I'd be extremely, extremely surprised if
Adobe kills CF. There are way too many opportunities with this
combined product line and Adobe has more or less nothing on the server
side of the equation. On the contrary, I think this could be great
for CF--a bigger company means more clout and deeper reach than
Macromedia could get.

I'm staying optimistic for the time being because in my estimation
there far more reasons for Adobe to keep CF than there are for them to
kill it, unless they just make the blanket (and rather foolish)
decision to say "We don't do server products." Between the desktop
apps and the server products they could dish up some serious
competition to Microsoft in my opinion.

Anyway, that's my two cents at this point. I'll send out another
email tomorrow covering the meeting location situation, but I can tell
you that for the May meeting we'll be meeting at the AidMatrix office,
which is in the i2 building at 635 and Luna. More details to follow.

I'm still looking for speakers for May (I have one so far), so even if
you have a short presentation or just want to get up and talk about
something cool you've been doing with CF 7, let me know!

Thanks,
Matt
