Wow, sounds like a great idea. I'd love to see that. I understand the basic concept of CFCs, and am fully behind the theory. It's looking at my existing apps and trying to pick out the places and methods to turn traditional apps into OO apps that gets me hung up at this point. Some places are MUCH more obvious than others, of course. But like you say, with a few examples, I'll probably get my EUREKA! moment pretty quick.

This sounds like it would be a really good topic for a round-table sort of discussion or even a more hands-on group coding session if we can make that work. I'll try and come up with a cool way of dealing with this for the July meeting, and if anyone has any specific ideas in the mean time, please pass them along. Maybe taking a very simple traditional CF application and reworking it into a more OO application would be a good way to approach this--I kind of did this in my CFC-101 presentation a while back but maybe with the gateways and DAOs that got a bit too deep too quickly.

Well, as you saw from my last mail - I'm very interested in CFC stuff. Specifically, I'd like to hear more about the "why". I can understand the basics of writing a CFC, and the reasoning as well. But I'm thinking more about when/where/how to convert non-CFC apps to CFC apps.

I'm looking at the June 14 meeting and wanted to give an earlier warning than last time for people to do some short "show and tell" sessions if they'd like. Other than that I think people were interested in hearing about what I've done with Verity and a new search tool I built for i2, and I believe we're going to have Tom Woestman talk about session replication in a clustered environment as well.

If there are other topics you'd like to hear about please suggest them! We still have lots of CFMX 7 features to get through so if you want to volunteer to present one let me know that as well.

I'll send out another note closer to the meeting with more details as well as to remind everyone of the new location.

Thanks,
Matt
