G00 is actually novel in a couple ways: The world is finally globalized.
First Gundam tied the story to no more than a few hundred km around the White Base, which travels at a snail's pace, taking several weeks to circumnavigate the globe. Amazingly this pattern of story telling was preserved in most of the UC and AU series, every series felt like a SciFi version of "The Monkey King" (or Fellowship of the Ring). Now G00 (perhaps for the first time?) tells the story without geographical limitations. Every physical location of any significance can be reached within hours of real time and within minutes of screen time. The girls are also globalized. Gone are the A-cup girls of Mirai, Frau and Lalah who follow orders and serve refreshment. Hello empowerment and endowment. As a mecha fan, I am not feeling the love.
