  THere are some problems with your contention here Joihn.  First,
ICANN cannot legally OWN any TLD's as they are required to act in
the PUBLIC interest and are essentially a PUBLIC TRUST.  As such
they ICANN can only Steuart TLD's not own them.  Second as of
January 16th the USPTO fundamentally disagrees with you with respect
to TM classes as they relate to TLD's.  Third, if ICANN should even
be considered the owner of any TLD's, they will only be repeating
the mistake that the USG made with NSI and .con, .net, .org....
In other words replacing one monopoly with another.

  THere will be more than one Registry.  There will have to be if there is
to be real competition and meet the requirements of the White Paper.
