Bloomington, Ill., resident David Lalande isn't waiting for cyberspace heavyweights to solve the on-line real estate crunch. Since late April, Lalande, the 34-year-old founder of a tiny, Central Illinois-based Internet service provider named Dave's World, has been evangelizing a simpler way of assigning domain names. Lalande's system eliminates the need for the familiar extensions .com, .net and .org. Using his simplified domains, an Internet address is created simply by placing a ''.'' three spaces from the end of a word.
