Ken and all,

It appears that CORE and Ken Stubbs are yet again attempting to
put the best face on a situation that they know very well is other than
what Ken Stubbs has stated here.  For those who have an extreme interest
in this ongoing saga between CORE and IODesign, it would be very
useful to do a thorough review of E-Mail archives of the gtld-discuss
and this list (Domain Policy) as well as some review of the IFWP
list as well.

It was reported sometime back that CORE was in some legal difficulty
with the Swiss government in regards to certain questionable financial
arrangements with their members and the potential missapprotiation
and allocation of the membership fees it had charged its members.

Mr. Stubbs is also quite renowned for is misleading spin doctoring
in many if not all of this comments to public mailing lists and often in
the Internet press as well.  This is well documented and also fairly
broadly known as well.  He has engaged in concerted effort
alone with Mike Roberts to discredit improperly and in the
dirtiest manner possible, of IODesign and Chris Ambler, or anyone
that takes a viewpoint that Shared TLD's or Shared gTLD's should or
could be part of the recognized expansion of the DNS name space.
As such, and to a great degree ICANN has taken this view, despite
a huge known consensus in opposition to CORE's and now ICANN's
view here.

I was asked to provide a statement in response to a press release published on behalf of IODesign by Jay Fennello who appears to be handling press-relations for their group.
Due to the pending litigation instituted by IO Design, CORE is limited in respect of the comments it can make regarding the trademark application filed for .WEB.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

We can confirm that, earlier this year, CORE filed intent-to-use service mark applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office with respect to certain proposed top-level domain designations, including .WEB.CORE, a Swiss non-profit association, has promoted the establishment of such new gTLDs since its inception, with the stated intent of providing registry services on a non-profit basis for second level domains under such new gTLDs.COREs purpose in filing the service mark applications was to demonstrate its continued interest in operating registries on a non-profit basis for new gTLDs.
