they are e-mailing domain name holders to encourage them to sign up for ten
(!) years (see below). "A $350 value for $300 -- IF you act before February
18."
(Don't be surprised if their next step is to enlist Ron Popeil and to throw
in a Ginzu knife or a Pocket Fisherman...)
The discount is one lure. The other lure is a not-too-subtle suggestion
made through clever use of the keywords "protect," "lock in," and "secure."
To the uninitiated, they imply that there's imminent danger of losing one's
domain name if one does not renew. At least that's how the head of our
company reacted when he got the e-mail.
I think it's a sleazy way to do business.
