It's supposed to be correct information with contacts etc. number and all - however what can you expect opensrs or any other registrar to do - the way the system works it's impossible to verify details - so it a well know standard to just ignor it. Whois is full of anonymous and misleading information. The dot.god registry does not even bother to ask them for contact details except for the email address (which must be valid). The remaining information just takes up space and is guranteed to be garbage in 50% of the cases. I base this estimate on the privacy stats from dot.god - see http://god.pccf.net/admin/stats-2000-06-01/sld003.htm I assume those people who want privacy are the same ones who put in anonymous or fictitious information (at least half). I guessing - but you can see where I'm going - the net should therefore accomodate that need. regards Joe Baptista http://www.dot.god/ dot.GOD Hostmaster +1 (805) 753-8697 On Mon, 17 Jul 2000, Marc Schneiders wrote: > Is virtually anonymous whois information acceptable in OpenSRS? > > This is what I get when asking whois for a domain, which I have left out > for obvious reasons, but am quite willing to give, if asked by OpenSRS. > > Please, note that "Postbus" is Dutch for PO Box. > > I am not reporting this, I am merely curious.
