Allot of work in the FOSS world much less communication takes place via
lists. Look around and see what all goes on via mailing lists. Its
really not so archaic as one might think.

Just the same as like IRC, many think it might be dead or of yester
year. Which is also used considerable for communication and work in the
FOSS world. Much more so than things that are one way like tweets,
blogs, etc. To build community and maintain that you want ongoing two
way communication all around.

Blogs are good for passing on technical or other information IMHO. Blogs
will be of use for archival information purposes. Short of the ones
where people just cast opinions and rant. Those can die a quick death as
far as I am concerned. Blogs and opinions are like something we all
have :)

Tweets are good for some limited uses, though I mostly think tweeting
and following all that is some what a complete waste of time. I really
dislike when its used for official statements or other things limited to
150 characters. Others might disagree, but its mostly a fad IMHO.

Really not sure what blogs, tweets, or things along those lines could do
to help the LUG and local community, but it can be open for debate. If
someone wants to get something going, thats entirely up to them to take
the initiative and lead.

Now let me go tweet that I just posted to the JaxLUG mailing list...
