Gene,

Please pardon the 1 week delay. I won't bore you all with my excuses (like
a wedding in Kentucky and a performance on Thursday). If you agree with the
minutes below, just submit them to the list, otherwise let me know of any
changes/additions you would like.

Rob.

We gathered in the Peak 10 conference room by 6:40 and started
introductions. There were 18 people in attendance! It's always nice when
late-comers have to grab stools from from the lobby. :)

After introductions were finished, (about 7:10) we took nominations for
President. Rob McKennon was nominated by several members, and no others
were nominated. We took a vote, and Rob was elected president with no
objections.

Next was the nomination for Vice President. Michael Potts asked "What are
the duties of the VP"? Rob assured him that he didn't know, but would find
our by-laws and have them for the next meeting. In spite of the answer, he
still nominated himself! No others were nominated. After the vote, Michael
was elected Vice President with no objections.

Last was the nomination for Secretary. Gene was nominated by Ralph, and Rob
nominated Ralph. A vote was taken in the run-off between Gene and Ralph,
and Gene was elected Secretary.

Gene gave a wonderful presentation on PHP for admins (from 7:15 - 7:45).

At 7:45 we had discussions on future venues: FSCJ / Peak-10 / AT&T /
Library / etc... There were questions on Insurance at certain venues, and
that is being looked into.

About 8pm we discussed the future of the mailing list and alternatives like
Google-groups. More discussion on this next meeting.

Then there was discussion on the LUSH (Linux Users Social Hour) and/vs. food
before the meeting. It was agreed that before the meeting, an email would
be sent out to the group by Michael asking for the number of people who
would be eating pizza that evening, and they would in turn provide $3 each
to cover the cost.
The meeting adjourned about 8:20 when most of us headed over to Dave &
Busters for the LUSH, where we decided later that drinks were too expensive,
and not to have the LUSH there again. :)
