Sounds interesting.  You can always download the latest git repository and
see who has written the existing drivers.

See how well the candidate keeps up with the Linux Kernel Mailing
List(LKML).  Ask them where they see Linux kernel development going in the
next 3 years.

A letter of reference from Linus probably wouldn't hurt either. :)

You can also check out some the authors of *BSD.
