Hello Jaxlug!

I've been lurking off and on the Jaxlug mailing list for probably about 10 years now and last night was my first "meeting" that I attended.   I've been using Linux for quite some time (pre-SLS days! woo!) and the topic wasn't one that really suited me (basic Linux) but I do have to say..  it was a fun and great time.   Keep in mind,  I'm not knocking or putting down the talk.   Everybody starts somewhere and I thought the jaxlug "team" did a great job!   Actually,  I did learn something.   I wasn't aware that GNU tar would automagically figure out if a file was bz2 or gz.  No more pesky j z flags! :) ...

File magic or by extension,  okay..another matter,  and not important (file magic)..  :)

Anyways.....

Now I'm sorta kicking myself for not attending a jaxlug sooner!  I also did the LUSH afterwards,  and got to "talk tech" with a lot of cool people..

What I'm trying to say is,  I had a really good time and look forward to the next jaxlug!

After the LUSH,  I ended up "hanging out" with people on the IRC ( irc.freenode.net #jaxlug ) talking about retro-computing,  Java,  C programming and all sorts of stuff!  The channel is pretty empty,  but remember screen + irssi are your friend :)

WHY U NO IRC :)

Anyways,  great time..   I'm still kicking myself for not doing this sooner.....
