Keep in mind the repo location has nothing to do with where your actual web server files are when they are served. It is merely the database in which your files will be stored. You could have your repository on a server completely separate from your web server as they have completely independent roles. From your description it sounds like E: would be a good candidate for that location, but not because that is where your files are.
