Hi, I have setup a simple aDSL line and used a D-Link DSL-320B modem in order to connect It. This modem will be used as a backup line.
My modem is setup as a bridged. When I connect my computer to the ethernet interface of the modem, I am directly assigned the Internet IP (public IP). When I connect my pfSense box, all interfaces are up but I got no DHCP leases and no IP assigned !! So far I have tried the following : • crossover cable • changing MTU • manually releasing and reseting DHCP I have also tried to setup the interface as PPPoE (which doesn't really make sense since I have already a configuration that's up and running when I use my computer with DHCP). I am totally lost and don't really know what else to try… Here is the output of the debug : > Jul 4 17:43:09 dhclient[14925]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 7 > Jul 4 17:43:16 dhclient[14925]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 4 > Jul 4 17:43:20 dhclient[14925]: No DHCPOFFERS received. > Jul 4 17:43:20 dhclient[14925]: No working leases in persistent > database - sleeping. > Jul 4 17:43:20 dhclient: FAIL > Jul 4 17:43:21 dhclient[14925]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 1 > Jul 4 17:43:22 dhclient[14925]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 2 > Jul 4 17:43:24 dhclient[14925]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 2 > Jul 4 17:43:26 dhclient[14925]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 3 > Jul 4 17:43:29 dhclient[14925]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 6 > Jul 4 17:43:36 dhclient[14925]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 9 > Jul 4 17:43:45 dhclient[14925]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 11 > Jul 4 17:43:56 dhclient[14925]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 16 > Jul 4 15:44:00 check_reload_status: Syncing firewall > Jul 4 17:44:03 dhclient[47112]: connection closed > Jul 4 17:44:03 dhclient[47112]: connection closed > Jul 4 17:44:03 dhclient[47112]: exiting. > Jul 4 17:44:03 dhclient[47112]: exiting. > Jul 4 17:44:04 dhclient: PREINIT > Jul 4 17:44:04 dhclient[19994]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 2 > Jul 4 17:44:06 dhclient[19994]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 5 > Jul 4 17:44:11 dhclient[19994]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 13 > Jul 4 17:44:24 dhclient[19994]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 21 > Jul 4 17:44:45 dhclient[19994]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 17 > Jul 4 17:45:02 dhclient[19994]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 3 > Jul 4 17:45:05 dhclient[19994]: No DHCPOFFERS received. > Jul 4 17:45:05 dhclient[19994]: No working leases in persistent > database - sleeping. > Jul 4 17:45:05 dhclient: FAIL > Jul 4 17:45:06 dhclient[55044]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 2 > Jul 4 17:45:08 dnsmasq[36655]: exiting on receipt of SIGTERM > Jul 4 17:45:08 dhclient[55044]: DHCPDISCOVER on em1 to 255.255.255.255 > port 67 interval 5 > Jul 4 17:45:09 dnsmasq[59610]: started, version 2.55 cachesize 10000 One thing that I have noticed and which might be of interest : Both the SDSL and ADSL link are on the same subnet !! (yes, I know…). Any advice will be welcome !
