Hi Makara,

make a backup.

Download a Disk Diagnosis Program from the Homepage of the Manufacturer of
the Harddisk
or download the utlimate boot disk (google it).

did i mention to make a backup? :-)

Run the Disk Diagnosis Long/Extended Test.
This can take some hours depending on the size of the disk.

Depending on the result: repair eventually bad blogs or replace the drive.
Would be my suggestion.

If you replace the drive, look for one that is made for 24/7 usage.
Optiplex Systems have mostly desktop disks that are made for 60% of 24/7
usage.
A hint can be the extended warranty time. the best point to see is the
MTBF and the manufacturers categorizing
for server/enterprise disks. a good choice are also notebook disks with
slower turning rates and high MTBF.

if that isn't the source of the error p.e. the disk has no failures, run a
hardware test programm.
on the ultimate boot disk are also such programs.

hth.

regards

M.
