You shouldn't need the "-archive" bits since 8.3 is still a supported release. http://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/8.3-RELEASE/packages/Latest/ http://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/amd64/8.3-RELEASE/packages/Latest/ After around April 30, 2014 it may move to the archive, but not before then. That is when FreeBSD support for 8.3 expires1[1]. We still maintain it on our own though if needed./security/ When it does move to the archive, it would be, for example: http://ftp-archive.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD-Archive/old-releases/i386/8.3-RELEASE/packages/Latest/ That does not yet exist, but the URL for 8.1 is there if you want to check it.
