Then I plugged my laptop into it using a direct ethernet cable (you may need a crossover depending on your ethernet interface's capabilities to auto-detect) and gave it an IP on the default private LAN for the new box. After uploading the backup config file and rebooting, it asks on the console how to map the LAN/WAN/OPT interfaces to the new device. Set those and go.
