When overdriving / distorting a 303, use a noise gate to get rid off any hiss inbetween notes. As someone (can't remember who...) once said, there are three things certain in life: death, tax, and noise. When you're pumping it up, you're kinda asking for the latter... so never mind a little more or less - gate it !
