Personally I just plug mine into the inputs on my RS7000 or SupernovaII. On the RS if you set the input level to mic instead of line you get a wonderful distortion... and they both have loads of other FX (the RS has 99, the Supernova 7)....

that wasn't much help was it, good luck hunting

Anyone have any advice on a good rack mount distortion plus effects unit?
I know, guitar pedals are the way to go... but more than just a single
pedal I'm looking for a unit that has a whole suite of effects including a
nice dirty, growling distortion.

Examples with sound clips would be great, but if you at least know the
brand/model then I can try looking it up on the web.

Thanks,
Morgan.

PS: I'm currently using a Big Muff Pi.
