I'm afraid the link below proves quite the opposite: in IE6 there is always a gap at the right hand side, even when the row has wrapped around, which it does at random widths. Clearly a rounding error is causing problems, which is exactly what most of us expected.
Incidentally, I have yet to hear anyone state a reason why this construct would be inaccessible to anyone - the simplicity of a single-row table ensures that it can correctly be linearised by any screen reader worth its salt, so (leaving semantics to once side for a moment) what is the harm in terms of practicalities?
