The Wilderness Society Inc. (TWS) is a not for profit conservation
organisation dedicated to the protection and restoration of our wilderness
and wildlife under our WildCountry¹ vision for Australia. TWS was
established in 1976 to help save the Franklin River and has since played an
important role in many of Australia¹s great conservation campaigns. Kakadu,
the Daintree, SW Tasmanian Wilderness, the forests of Eastern and Western
Australia and the wilderness of Antarctica are among the many places TWS has
helped save. TWS is now actively working to develop a WildCountry framework
for all of its campaigns including new campaigns such as land clearing and
longstanding campaigns such as our forest campaigns.
Position Description: Online Content Writer Communications
The Online Content Writer is responsible for producing original content and
updating existing content for The Wilderness Society¹s website which is
currently being overhauled, as well as other communications products. This
position will ensure consistent messaging tailored to specific target
audiences. The new position sits within the National Communications Team and
reports to the National Communications Manager.
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Produce original content and edit and update existing content primarily
for the Wilderness Society website www.wilderness.org.au

2. Liaison with campaign and fundraising staff to ensure consistent
messaging, adherence to house style and branding which reflects
organisational goals.

4. Work closely with members of the Communications Team to produce a range
of primarily online communications materials as directed.

SELECTION CRITERIA

2. A minimum of five years experience in writing copy for external
publications, websites and e-newletters.
3. Demonstrated experience in the use of images and graphics in
e-communications.
4. Demonstrated understanding of message development, story telling
tailored for different audiences and different mediums.
5. Demonstrated ability to translate complex issues into engaging
messages.
6. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing several projects
at one time.
7. Demonstrated knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and SEO.
8. Demonstrated experience of Content Management Systems (Zope Plone
preferred).
9. An understanding of current e-marketing practices.
