So, upgraded to R2 SP1 and am trying out Automatic Client Upgrade to get the client out. I found this on Russ Rimmerman's blog from 2013, and was concerned by this part:
Important Caveat: If you enable Automatic Client Upgrade and have maintenance windows applied to your clients, the clients will adhere to the maintenance windows regardless of the Automatic Client Upgrade checkbox. Therefore, if the clients are not in a maintenance window when the scheduled task runs, the automatic upgrade will not take place. I set up a test on one of the machines that got the task after I enabled ACU, I changed the start time of the task to be 30 minutes before that machine's maintenance window, so it definitely would start outside the window. The task started and the client upgraded outside the maintenance window. Is this new/different/fixed from when Russ talked about it? Anybody know? Also, some clients that have down level clients are not getting the task. From what I've read, this could be a bug, anybody know how to fix/remedy this? Todd
