Everyone Read Access

Ok then, just not what I expected. But then again, nowadays, I rarely create
file shares, do server maintenance etc. I just tell a customer what they need
to have in place before I walk in the door and everything is taken care of for
me.

I am on a project where I have to follow the vendor's instructions to create a
more detailed installation document and then turn the doc into a video. I was
just going under the hood to make sure all was correct with their instructions.
Since we have no idea who could be using this doc and video, I am following
MBS' instructions he gave me back in 2008: "Assume nothing". I need to make
this doc and video work for the beginning admin to the seasoned pros on this
list.

Thanks

Webster

This is the correct answer I believe.

If you look at NTFS, its' read only. So it looks like setting the share via
that method five Share level full control AND NTFS read-only all in one shot.

I figure I must be doing something wrong here.

I created a folder c:\test.
Right-click, Share with, Specific people... and grant Read to Everyone.

[cid:[email protected]]

Right-click my Test folder, Properties, Sharing tab, Advanced Sharing...,
Permissions and Everyone has Full Control.

[cid:[email protected]]

Why the difference?

Thanks
