I think the key is knowing the answer to “Microsoft has yet to say how long
companies can delay updates before they roll out themselves”

Just last month MS released a patch that we cannot install because it breaks
our document management software. I don’t know how long, if ever, it will take
the vendor to correct the issue. If I were forced to install that patch we’d be
at a production stand still.

I had a similar question, and it seems that If you're on Pro or Enterprise,
you're on CBB or LTSB, which has it's own iso. Only home has regular Current
Branch. I suppose that there would just be different updating policies for
those different groups? So allow automatic updates to the early adopters, and
disable them on the others?

We believe for most organizations you should use a mix:

• A small percentage (maybe just your own lab machines) on the Insider
branch, to see new features as they are being developed.

• A small percentage on the Current Branch, as early adopters.

• A significant percentage on the Current Branch for Business, deployed
in phases.

• Some percentage (dependent on industry) of mission-critical machines
on the Long Term Servicing Branch, probably averaging under 20% (could be zero
for some firms, higher for others).

Maybe that mix works out to <1%, 1%, 80%, and the rest.

Thanks,
-Michael

When you deploy Windows 10 will you deploy current branch or long term
servicing?
