I don’t know about recommended, but I could see PowerShell doing this pretty
easily.

1. Identify the following

· DriverPackage source location

· What Drivers in DriverPackage

· What DistPoints is DriverPackage on

· Other general DriverPackage settings

· Task sequences used by DriverPackage

2. Delete Driver Package

3. Delete Driver package source content

4. Create Driver package

5. Update task sequences

Might be a few minor steps missing, but those are the big ones.

There are a few starting points online as well:

What is the recommended procedure in re-creating your existing packages? If I
have a category and package for each model, delete the package, filter drivers
based on category, add those to new package? Or do I have to blow more things
away and start from scratch?

Subject: [mssms] ConfigMgr 2012 R2 SP1/2012 SP2 - Bloated driver store fix is
out!

The fix is finally out!
FIX: Driver package size increases in System Center 2012 Configuration Manager
Service Pack 2
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3084586
When you add new drivers to a driver package by using the Import New Driver
wizard, the driver package files are larger than you expect.

The content for the driver package may be duplicated multiple times. This
causes the package file to be significantly larger than the package in the
original source location.

Additionally, the process to import the new drivers by using the Import New
Driver wizard may take much more time than you expect.
