It looks like that (REG_SZ) key is supposed to be “Eastern Standard Time”,
no “US”. At least that’s what I see (and what I expected to see). Still, I
don’t know how that would cause it to appear as Indiana East.

HKLM\Software\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation\
Key=TimeZoneKeyName Value=US Eastern Standard Time

When I go to adjust Time Zone in the Date/Time area it states Indiana East??

I had to look in the registry for the exact string to enter when I was in
Oman last year.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Time Zones

Eastern is entered as:

(UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)

For Oman, we had to use (UTC+04:00) Abu Dhabi, Muscat

What you see in the Date/Time app is not necessarily what you need to enter
(it is in Win10).

Thanks

You said “Eastern”, but did you mean to say “Eastern Standard Time”? That’s
what it should be.

Maybe but I am getting some flakey errors in Windows Updates about time or
certs being off and the Time is ok and the Certs are ok but the Time Zone’s
are wacky like this.

Just stretching.

I push out a reg entry for the Eastern Time Zone with a GPO.

Looking at my PC’s they are saying they are Indiana East.

But the GPO say it completed successfully and the registry setting states
Eastern not Indiana East.

Why is the Gui showing Indiana East??

Any Ideas?

This is on a Windows 7 pro workstation in an AD domain with 2003, 2008, and
2012 DC’s.
