Grr... bad math, but I think you get it. Gonna blame my headcold :P From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Miller Bonnie L. Sent: Tuesday, December 15, 2015 11:39 AM To: '[email protected]' <[email protected]> Subject: [NTSysADM] RE: File Server Resource Manager question
Yes, unless you modify the base amount or set another higher threshold (I haven't tried over 100% as we don't have any soft quotas at this time, but it might let you). It doesn't repeatedly notify, just when crossing a threshold up. So for testing as an example, you could change that quota to 3GB. Then set a 90% threshold, which you should be able to go over with a small file. Also add a 100% threshold. If you go over both in 60 minutes, you only get the one notification. If you wait and go over the second after 60 minutes, you'll get a second notification. Just from what I've seen, I think notifications are really meant to work well with hard quotas. -Bonnie From: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Heaton, Joseph@Wildlife Sent: Tuesday, December 15, 2015 11:22 AM To: '[email protected]' <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Subject: [NTSysADM] RE: File Server Resource Manager question So, my home drive is 2.74GB in size. I created a test quota at 250MB, just so that I would be way over it initially. I did have to add a file to the folder in order to get the first notification. Are you saying that I have to go below the 250MB limit, then back over, in order to get another notification? For example, if you have it set to notify at 100%, it will do that when you go up, but it doesn't notify on down. Then, it doesn't notify until you go up and over again, as long as it hasn't already notified you in the set number of minutes (60 is the default) about the same event. Does that make sense? -Bonnie From: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Heaton, Joseph@Wildlife Sent: Tuesday, December 15, 2015 10:16 AM To: '[email protected]' <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Subject: [NTSysADM] RE: File Server Resource Manager question Ya, that's what I thought, but I've since added additional files to the folder, and no notifications. So, until you change the contents of the folder, you won't get notified again. -Bonnie From: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Heaton, Joseph@Wildlife Sent: Monday, December 14, 2015 10:12 AM To: NT System Admin Issues Discussion list <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Subject: [NTSysADM] File Server Resource Manager question Server 2012R2 Looking at setting up soft quotas for now, hard quotas later, for user home drives. I have the test quota setup, and I've applied it to my home drive. I set up the test quota to be very small, so my home drive is way over 100% right off the bat, so I can test notifications. I received one notification, when I copied another file into the home drive. I haven't gotten any more since then, and that was weeks ago now. Looking at the notification limits for FSRM itself, it should be sending notifications every hour. Does anyone know of a setting that I may be missing somewhere?
