We have it remote, just because of iis, we don't have iis on the cas, nor 
primaries.  Of course, we're a bit bigger than many companies, so you may not 
care so much about that.  

also giving as much memory as we can on the primaries to sql and cm itself.  
Iis of course needs some memory, so we don't want to reserve even that much 
away from cm or sql.

But a lot of those considerations depends on your client count .
