Yes. This has nothing to do with Intune though. It has to do with the 
management profiles installed on the devices. Why would they just allow a new 
“authority” manage them using the same profile? That would be very bad security 
wise.

Just an FYI though… a side-by-side migration does require all the devices to be 
re-enrolled. Kinda a PIA.

Quick question.. let’s say you have the authority already set for on-prem with 
SCCM.  If you had to rebuild the SCCM server or needed to move to another OS 
host and perform a sit recovery, what will that do in terms for the Intune 
connector?  Do all devices have to re-enroll or because the authority was set 
before, it should be fine?  We’re writing some DR plans for a client and wanted 
to confirm.  Thanks.
