Everything about your site is in the DB. Backup and restore would be pretty
useless if it wasn’t.

If it’s part of ConfigMgr, you don’t have to do anything. If its something
outside of ConfigMgr, you’ll have to copy it or restore it yourself. Sending
upon your site role layout, this may (or may not) include content source files,
SSRS DB and custom reports, the WSUS DB. This is all covered in the backup and
restore documentation:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712697.aspx.

Note that if you wait for CB 1602, a in place OS upgrade from 2008R2 will be
supported (at least it is in the 1602 TP).

Subject: [mssms] Backup/Recovery for OS upgrade

When I do a backup/recovery, in order to upgrade my OS from 2008R2 to 2012R2,
does the site backup task capture all the package/application deployments, and
such? Or am I going to have to recreate all of that? I can backup and restore
all the stuff in my source directory, no problem, but I would dread having to
recreate all the packages and deployments.
