I should really blog this but I'm incredibly busy and somewhat lazy however
this may save some else a bunch of headache so.......
If you have a primary site server on 2008R2 and you want to fully manage
Windows 10 I had previously been told it was as simple as moving the SUP to a
2012R2 server. THIS IS NOT TRUE! The only way to full manage Win 10 if your
site server is on 2008R2 is to get your site server off 2008R2. Personally I
will never upgrade a production server OS so for me this is a side-by-side
migration but others feel differently.
It is supported to upgrade 1511, then to 1602. Upgrade in-place the OS to
2012R2 which requires you to first uninstall WSUS. If you want to have the SUP
remote you can still do that but both servers need the latest WSUS installed.
