I don’t think my reply ever made it through yesterday:

No, the AI point is simply a metadata sync mechanism between the site and
Microsoft to provide and share categorization and detection information.

For clarity, what exactly do you mean when you say “query on Installed
Software”?

Also, simply adding the class in HW inventory is not sufficient. You must also
enable it in AI in the console so that the clients know to gather the info in
the first place.

Subject: RE: [mssms] InstalledSoftware HW class

I don't appear to be getting the AI classes. I implemented the he classes in a
custom client setting, not the default settings. Does that make a difference?

Also, do I have to check the box for the sms_InstalledSoftware on the AI
properties for this to work?

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff, no it doesn’t need AI sync point installed. But you can see the AI
classes getting inventories in the Hardware inventory cycle on the local
computer. I would start there to confirm that it is working.

I enabled the InstalledSoftware hardware inventory class in our custom client
settings. HW inventory happens every three days. It has been a week. When I
try to query on installed software, none are listed.

Does the asset intelligence point role need to be installed for queries and
reports that use installed software to work?

Thanks,

Jeff
