To be honest, I am all for the advantages that an offsite service provides like 
availability and expansion but installing the application on all my servers and 
then allowing that app to run with unrestricted access to my server with 
outbound privileges is not likely an option for most places.

At one of my gigs, we stage all the servers to a single staging server which 
then replicates to another in a DMZ which schedules the uploads.

That facilitates the use of native processes to dump data, mssql, postgre, 
exchange etc.
