Well thanks! The guy that sells the Chinese (Lifan TMS) motorcycles on Ebay has his warehouse in the Los Angeles area. I lived nearby at the time, so I went over there in person and asked if he'd sell me one w/out an engine.
They did it w/out any problems - and it arrived at the warehouse in ~1 week. I didn't negotiate the price - he said $650 for everything. The motorcycle arrived in a crate: http://lh3.ggpht.com/lennonrodgers/R-_LTi3BAoI/AAAAAAAABA8/minjvfxk3i0/IMG_3423.JPG?imgmax=576 The engine had already been removed, and the electrical connections, etc. were just dangling there. I was actually impressed with the quality/cost. Like all conversions, there was a bit of rewiring, etc. - but nothing major. I removed almost all of the plastic (for aesthetic preference). I highly recommend this motorcycle for conversions. The rear tire is much smaller than a normal motorcycle, which adds to the efficiency (75 Watt-hr/mile). The bike itself is not huge, but I'm 6'-2'' and it fits like a glove for me. Smaller means less x-sectional area, which means less draw loss. I would hope they would give anyone that same price, though you'll have to pay shipping if you can't pick it up yourself in L.A. Here's their website: http://t-motorsports.com/ The motorcycle I used: http://t-motorsports.com/20li20spbitm.html They have a cruiser that would also make a great conversion. I've sat on it in person, and it has a similar respectable level of quality/cost: http://t-motorsports.com/hscucrepadot.html Contact Mike TEL: 626.388.9898 email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Feel free to mention me (he's a good guy - and will certainly remember the electric motorcycle project). Hero-Honda is an India company that makes very efficient motorcycles (small back tire, low mass, decent x-sectional area and drag coefficient). I owned one while spending time in India. This would certainly be my ideal bike in terms of quality/cost. If anyone knows how to get a hold of these.... they would make amazing conversions: http://www.herohonda.com/ Best, Lennon On Sun, May 4, 2008 at 10:32 PM, Travis Gintz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Great job!
