Community Conversation on Energy and Climate:
Local Action for Powerful Change

Venice Community Center
326 S. Nokomis Ave., Venice
April 22, 2009
1-5 p.m.

Information and Registration at:
www.scgov.net/Sustainability/EnergyConversation.asp
941-861-5000
Registration is FREE and all are welcome.

On Earth Day this year, we invite you to come together to discuss
sustainable energy solutions for our area and help develop a specific action
plan for community-wide progress.  The event will begin with a keynote
speaker on energy and climate solutions and the potential economic benefits
they can provide. Citizens will then join small group discussions on
government and individual actions to move our community toward sustainable
energy solutions.

As individual residents we have opportunities in our daily lives  to make
energy-conscious choices such as using renewable sources of energy, making
our homes more energy efficient, choosing alternative sources of fuel and
transportation and buying local. This conversation will offer an opportunity
for citizens to have an open and informed dialogue with each other and to
provide direct input to decision makers on an energy action plan for our
community to make powerful changes today and in the future.

Sarasota County is partnering with SCOPE, New College of Florida and the
Cities of Sarasota, Venice and North Port to host this Community
Conversation on Energy and Climate. The Conversation will be held at the
Venice Community Center at 326 S. Nokomis Ave in Venice, a central location
intended to welcome citizens from all over Sarasota County and the
municipalities.

STAY TUNED: Register at the link above and you will soon be asked to help
guide the discussion by completing an online survey. Your answers will help
frame the conversation and develop a cross-jurisdictional Community Energy
and Climate Action Plan.
