Event receiver can do the job. Just override the CheckedIn or ItemUpdated event then for every time a document is checked in, you can set a code that updates B and C when A is specified?

Is it possible to do the following. Have a list somewhere or in sql etc that has columns A – B - C. In word, or when I upload a document, if I select A from a drop down, B and C are auto-populated. Cheers.
