Hi Nancy,

Have you tried Alane Ferguson's forensic science series? It is fiction, but you might be able to use the books in some way. There are four books--the first is The Christopher Killer; the second is Angel of Death; the third is Circle of Blood, and the fourth is The Dying Breath. In my opinion, each book has gotten better, which is often rare! Each book revolves around Cameryn Mahoney who is a teenage assistant coroner in a small Colorado town. My eighth graders have loved this series (and I have, too. I am reading the fourth right now!) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nancy Carroll" <[email protected]>

Subject: [LIT] Mystery/Forensics Tie-In

Hi Everyone,

I teach at a very small middle school where I teach many of the subjects. Currently in science we're studying forensics. I was considering tying it in with a mystery book report, writing a mystery, etc.
Do you know of any true crime that's appropriate for 11-14 year olds?
Any other ideas?
Thank you,
Nancy Carroll
