You may want to go to corestandards.org, click on the standards tab on the
right, scroll down and click on the English/Language Arts Standards and
Literacy in History/Social Stuides, ... There are a great many resources used
there across all grade levels. One of the appendices has sample activities
related to writing.

I think you'll be surprised!

Subject: [LIT] Writing in the content areas

Hello all,
I teach US History to 8th graders. I want to spend time this summer reading
about the writing my kids are doing with history. I have a copy of Content
Area Writing by Daniels and Zimmerman. What else are you folks reading
about content area writing and mentor texts dealing with nonfiction (maybe).
