The letters are only 1/2 cut off; if you could just move them a bit further up the page (say 80 pixels) then it will be fine.
My screen resolution is: 1440x900 if that helps.

oohhh that's hard
I am looking at it right now in that proportion, and there is no way I can put the text in and have it look right at both image sizes.. Visually, the proportions are so different..

so unfortunately it looks to me that the one thats in there now is as good as its going to get ...

I agree about keeping the image "round", repositioning the text is probably smarter.

Same happens on my laptop, the vertical resolution is fairly short on
many widescreens. The solution is to make sure that the background is
set to stretch so that it compensates and fits it to whatever size
screen you have. I'll make sure to set that on the next build.

I have run in either Virtual Machines, or my screen dimensions must be standard
because I have never seen the cut off text.

BUT it occurs to me that *if* the background is set to stretch
then the OSGeo brand image will *not be round*
I think its better not to stretch, then

If keeping the text please move it up a bit; it is cut off when

(just reading these comments now.. )
I am confused by this one..
on all the setups I have, the desktop is resized proportionally
how is it that text is cut off?

Brian, is there any chance you could create a version
of the background with the following text:

also, just for the record, I'd be happy with the existing
plain osgeo-dark background with no additional text.

+1, I agree, I'd prefer no text, but existing image that Brian put
together.
